Pre-war Japan, Meiji period. Rare and very large wind up toy. Works with unusual weight mechanism. When cars come to lower elevator, each one is lowered down to second platform where they are lifted up to the top to repeat the cycle. Cars are replacements but are the correct era and work well with the piece. There is a Japanese flag flying over tower. Box is excellent, as is the toy. 24".
