This unmarked sword is most likely the product of Boyle & Gamble of Richmond, Virginia. Blade measures 32-1/4" long with an unstopped fuller. The cast brass guard is very light with a small two branch knuckle bow. Pommel is crude and plain. Single brass strand wire on black leather wrapped grip. Lap seam scabbard with brass fittings. This is a very presentable example of a Virginia made officers sword. CONDITION: Sword and scabbard retain a pleasing untouched look to them. Hilt is tight. Blade has some light surface rust and minor pitting. Brass has a nice dark patina. The guard has a bend to it. The grip has some loss to the leather, but is otherwise solid with all the wire present. Scabbard retains what appears to be most of the period original finish with one minor dent on the reverse side. GR
