Nice example of a World War I American Expeditionary Force telescope with tripod. The telescope is housed in its original case which features a 2nd Division sticker, which was most likely added in the 1930s. Neither the scope nor tripod are marked, with the exception of the metal tripod mount being ordnance stamped with the flaming bomb. The telescope is constructed of brass and is painted green, along with the metal mount and sections of the tripod. The tripod features its leather coverings. Case is constructed of oiled fiber board, painted green, with leather straps and wood mounts to secure the scope. CONDITION: The scope and metal mount retain most of their original green paint. Tripod exhibits a nice patina with handling wear and cosmoline around the mount. Leather has darkened but remains supple. Case exhibits scattered areas of paint loss and blemishes with worn leather straps that exhibit creases and cracks. Several straps have broken. The 2nd Division sticker exhibits cracking from age but presents well.
