This fraktur has many similarities to the work of Christian Strenge (1757 - 1828), a Hessian soldier who remained in Pennsylvania after the Revolutionary War and settled in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, where he taught school from about 1793 to 1812. This piece may have been created by one of Strenge's students or another fraktur artist familiar with his work. CONDITION: Losses, toning and tears.
