Caliber .750 bore, Barrel length 17-1/2”. Very interesting mid -19th century, smooth bore, Tower musket that was obviously used by African poachers. This musket is actually the real deal. All of the rawhide and tacks are of the period. The musket was cut down and the barrel is now secured to the stock with rawhide. An old rawhide repair covers the entire breech and wrist area. The stock is decorated with numerous brass tacks that have leeched into the wood. Homemade rawhide sling. Metal is dark brown patina with “Tower” stamped on side plate. Original unit issue number stamped on right side of stock. Great period African decorated piece of unquestionable authenticity.
