The 30" steel barrels with rib engraved Lincoln Jeffries THE TRYON GUN and Winner of the Gold Prize, London 1870 and further honors. Rudimentary engraving at breech. Barrels marked NOT FOR BALL. Front action locks finely bouquet and scroll engraved, and EK Tryon & Co in riband. Hammers finely engraved en suite. Arcaded fences. Top lever non-ejector. Finely figured walnut butt is checkered at wrist. Gutta percha buttplate. Trigger guard engraved en suite. Checkered forend with Parker Brothers type release. CONDITION: Barrels refinished overall, markings crisp. Locks with traces of original case hardening. Checkering on stock worn. Bore end checkering shows considerable wear. Bores are excellent for a hammer gun of this age. Action works well. A very interesting American retailed gun specifically made for EK Tryon & Co Philadelphia. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
