An interesting Ottoman blunderbuss carefully crafted to mimic the British style. Octagonal to round iron barrel retained by 2 pins with evidence of Damascus twist construction towards muzzle. Sling swivel towards tip of stock. Heavily flared barrel with slightly raised ring just behind muzzle. Heavily washed cartouche over breech. Unmarked lock with reinforced cock, serrated face frizzen, bridled pan, light line engraving around perimeter. Brass furniture in the British style with evidence of casting throughout. Trumpet ramrod with threaded base, retained by a single ferrule and feeding into an unreinforced mouth. Sling stud along toeline. CONDITION: Very good. Metal has a smooth even chocolate patina, with a few flashes of dove grey at high edges. Some metal, such as brass furniture and parts of lock, show evidence of rough casting. Stock is very good, with some impressions and handling marks throughout, but free of cracks or chips. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with a minimum of oxidation. EMW
