Classic configuration with round barrel retained by a single large barrel band. Extended stock reaching approximately 3/4 of barrel. Trigger guard with vaguely Germanic style grip behind guard. Left side of stock with bolted on sling ring and cheekpiece. Smooth buttplate. "WANZEL" stamped over breech. Numbers "053" on barrel band, matching "53" on sling bar, buttplate, and trigger guard. Interior of hammer with a large "X". A half cock setting has been added by brazing an additional notch into sear. Breech with visible evidence from when it was converted to percussion. Small starburst on right side of barrel and Austrian eagle visible on lockplate. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel essentially dove grey mixed with some browning. Lock commensurate. Wood with numerous bumps and bruises commensurate with field use, some cracking and lifting of varnish in places. Action works appropriately when operated by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and a few areas of darkness. An attractive example. EW
