1777 style stock and lock signed "Gosuin a Liege", Gosuin had command over the Liege arsenal for 6 years and was probably made at that time. Barrel with offset proofs on barrel, tang with "M - 1763", but faceted. Barrel retained to stock via three bands with 1777 style spring band in front of first band, sling bows mounted at second band and trigger guard. Ramrod feedings into a double strap nosecap, with brass front sight on rear strap. Bayonet lug on underside of muzzle. Lock with a brass bridled pan, reinforced cock, and "GOSUIN / A LIEGE" in center, with indistinct proof. Sideplate with 2 lock bolts. Stock with incised "G L / S" on right side, G L appears field done as it is somewhat cruder than the S; left side of comb relieved for cheekrest. Iron buttplate. CONDITION: Metal is a mixture of mossing, oxidation, and dove grey, heavier spots of oxidation around bands. Barrel markings are crisp, barrel appears polished. Lock commensurate, with crisp markings. Stock with numerous marks and impressions from handling, including some chipping along woodline and a break behind second band. Two deeper chips behind side panels. Mechanically fine, bore is dark. An interesting example. EMW
