Of standard configuration with the exception of the unusual and unmarked automatic priming lock and hammer. The barrel, marked US and JH over P is dated 1849. The lock is completely unmarked. The stock has no inspector's cartouche visible. Comes with a rare detached Gedney hammer, serial number 116. CONDITION: Barrel is polished over minor pitting, the lock in similar condition. Elaborated automatic priming mechanism is missing several parts. The stock is in good condition except for six notches on right of wrist and some small chips around lock plate. This rare pistol has been disassembled and the consensus is that all work was performed at Springfield arsenal. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
