Octagonal to round barrel flaring to 1 - 7/8" at the bell. Barrel is profusely inlaid with tendrils and geometrics in silver on a blackened ground, and retained by an overstrap that is pierced with designs en suite and retained by 2 pins. False ramrod with geometric and beaded designs. Stock has been completely covered in pierced gilded sheet silver in geometric patterns, florals, and tendrils. Ambidextrous sling bar with silver tendrils. Lock, stamped "LONDON WARANTED", with waterproof pan, roller bearing frizzen, and swan neck cock. Top of lock decorated with rays, rear with birds; neck of cock with florals. Trigger and trigger guard decorated en suite. These ostentatious firearms were often given by the British Empire to Sultans in the Middle East as a way to barter for goodwill. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel silver is crisp and attractive with tight pins on overstrap. Some tarnishing to silver that could be easily cleaned if desired. Stock is very good with some minor verdigris that does not detract, mostly underneath the silver and in the stock piercing. Minor break at the toe of the stock that is stable but has resulted in a small area of jagged metal; exercise caution. Sheet silver is lifting somewhat at tang. Some loss of gilding to high points, revealing silver underneath. Lock has some minor oil staining. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with a little pitting throughout. Accompanied by a letter signed by Dr. Thomas Aschenbrenner describing the gun. A very attractive gun. PLEASE NOTE: Only legal residents of the United States of America may purchase this item.
