One of approximately 100,000 rifles made between 1861 -1865 by Colt Firearms at Hartford, Connecticut. Gun has rifled barrel dated 1864 at breech with "VP / (Eagle)" proof. Rear flip sight with blade front. Percussion lock dated 1864 and marked "U.S. / Colt's Ptfa Mfg. Co. Hartford, Connecticut.". Walnut wood stock with "AWM" inspector mark with "SL" inspector mark. Iron hardware with original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Metal parts have been cleaned but have faded to a gray patina. Wood has been cleaned with sharp cartouches. Good bore with good mechanics. DLM
