5 - 7/8" octagonal Damascus barrel with patent breech and unusually large 10 bore rifled barrel. Simple blade and notch sights. Back action percussion lock with dolphin form hammer, engraved with floral scroll. Heraldric shield thumbpiece on wrist. German silver trigger guard with an arrowpoint finial, engraved with scroll. Checkered bag grip. CONDITION: Barrel is a smooth chocolate patina with areas of oxidation; flashes of Damascus twist visible at sharp edges. Lock en suite. Stock is dry with numerous bumps and scrapes throughout, including a crack on the right side of the forestock. Mechanically functional, bore has very softened rifling, and oxidation throughout. Due to the unusually large size, this pistol may have been a stopping rifle carried as a backup sidearm when hunting.
