This is a very fine factory engraved and cased Colt Model 1851 Navy; one of the finest factory engraved examples to appear on the market in the last decade. The barrel retains nearly all of its original Colt factory bright blue. Frame retains most of its original case colors, most vibrant on left side. Cylinder retains nearly all of its original bright bluing with some darkening on the scene itself. Loading lever has nearly all of its quite vibrant case colors. Backstrap retains nearly all of its original silver, as does trigger guard. Hammer has most of its original case colors with considerable vivid color remaining. Face of cylinder retains strong traces of original bluing. All numbers match including wedge, which appears not to have been engraved. Engraving on left side of barrel has classic factory wolf's head with elongated snout. Left side with cloverleafs, which match right side of frame. Factory deluxe varnished walnut grips retain nearly all original varnish, with one extremely minor area at toe missing varnish. Front sight is of deluxe dovetail type and retains considerable factory original nitre blue. This lovely Colt Navy comes in an original Colt factory deluxe rosewood case, with faded purple felt lining. Including: American Flask & Cap Co. flask retains nearly all its original lacquer with spout and top with traces of gilding, two packets of Sage combustible cartridges, Colt's patent bullet retaining most of its original blue with the usual battering from use as a mallet, cap tin retains nearly all original paper. Case itself is excellent with the exception of two age cracks on lid.
