An extremely fine Colt Fluted 1860 Army revolver. First year production serial No. 1059. The 1860 Fluted Army is one of the most desirable variations of the 1860 Army Model and these are usually found in well worn condition. To find one with its original blue and case colors is unusual; to find an example with the grip retaining its original varnish is even more unusual. All serial numbers match. Barrel retains almost all of its original bluing with slight browning due to age. Cylinder has strong traces of bright blue but as with nearly all excellent condition fluted Armies, nearly all the blue has flaked. Frame retains considerable brilliant color case hardening. Trigger guard and backstrap retain nearly all their original heavy silver plating. Hammer has some color case hardening remaining. All cylinder safety pins are intact. Beautiful original walnut grip retains nearly all of its original varnish with some minor marks. Lever retains most of original color case hardening, especially in protected area. Screws are excellent with the exception of the wedge screw which is only slightly marred. One of the finest Fluted Armies to be sold in recent years. CORRECTION: Photo of factory letter added. Caliber is .44 and barrel length is 8".
