This gun obviously went to our Southern neighbors where they took a standard double action 1878 and silver soldered three dimensional Mexican silver overlays onto the barrel, frame, and housing. The hammer and cylinder and trigger were done in gold wash. The original bird's head grip was extended to be a square butt and built custom grips (when grips are removed, extensions can easily be seen. Original frame intact). CONDITION: The cylinder and hammer retain 90% of the period gold wash. Balance of gun is gunmetal grey patina. Sharp "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" legend on left side. Indexes and locks up fine. Has a near mint bore. A bar hanging string hole has been added to the front sight. Accompanied by its original homemade Buscadero, which is decorated with playing card emblems (heart, diamond, spade, clubs). Colorful south of the border rig. Included is an extra fully floral tooled double loop holster. Mail order quality and circa 1900 for a 7-1/2" Colt (Single Action or Bisley) in very good to excellent condition. CORRECTION: Estimate changed.
