Evans Repeating Rifle was manufactured in Mechanic Falls, Maine 1873-1879. This is a New Model rifle, approximately 3,000 manufactured from 1877-1879. Features a 30” barrel. The Evans rifle boasted the largest capacity magazine of any repeater of its time, having a 28 shot tubes in butt. Walnut stock and forend with a folding ladder rear sight, dove tail front sight. Metal surfaces are a smooth patina with wiped on finish. Walnut stocks are very good as refinished, with usual bruises but not cracked. Action is fine and rifle sports a strong bore with usual black powder abrasion. This is late model that is stamped Evans Sporting Rifle on top of barrel. It is believed these were assembled with parts on hand after company entered bankruptcy.
