Manufactured 1856. If this No. 2 Root were a coin, we would rate is an MS67. It is near mint. Barrel retains almost all of its original bright blue finish. Lever retains fading case colors. The hammer retains brilliant case colors on sides and saddle with slight fading on right. Cylinder retains nearly of its original finish. Nipples are blue and essentially unfired. Highly figured walnut grip retains nearly all original varnish with few if any marks. Back strap has brilliant blue. Original case with wine red velvet is extremely fine. Accessories include brass mold with bright polish on spruce cutter; Colt patent flask retains nearly all its original lacquer with much original gilding on the spout; screwdriver retains some original bluing and has a wooden handle; Eley cap tin and original key. A true gem of a Colt Root revolver.
