Manufactured 1867. This rare Root, serial number 11646, retains nearly all of its original Colt factory inky bright bluing on barrel, frame and cylinder with minor flaking around nipple scoops. Hammer has much original bright case colors, fading on high spots. Front of cylinder is still blued, indicating very little if any firing. Cylinder scene is light due to factory high polishing but easily discerned. All numbers match. Varnished walnut grips retain much of original finish with minor marring on left side and several more serious mars on right. Cased in an original varnished mahogany case with some polish to outside, wine red lining only slightly faded, partitions are secure. Accessories include eagle flask with crossed revolvers retaining nearly all original lacquer, top retains some of the original gilding; excellent brass mold shows no use; Eley's cap tin and key. CORRECTION: Barrel length is 3-1/2".
