These were imported in great numbers by both the Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War. Dated 1826 on the barrel. Converted to percussion. Brass bands and trigger guard, steel buttplate. 41 inch barrel. The stock has been shortened, and the front band & spring move back appropriately. Looks to have been done a long time ago. CONDITION: All metal surfaces retain an even grey color with some light pitting. Markings are good. Lock markings are partially obscured by pitting. Smoothbore has some pitting. Wood has dings and handling marks, along with a few age cracks extending up from the buttplate on the right side. Good mechanical function. GR
