Harper's Ferry Model 1803 Flintlock rifle made at Harper's Ferry Arsenal in 1818. 35" half-round half-octagon barrel in .65 smoothbore with rifle sights and "US" in circle proof and "VP" in circle proof at left breech. Flint lock marked "Harper's Ferry / 1818" at rear with Eagle and US marked shield with single trigger control. Walnut halfstock with brass furniture, correct steel ramrod, and wooden muzzle plug. CONDITION: Lock is a reconversion with some burnout around the top. Barrel has been bored out long ago to .65 smoothbore. Metal has faded to a gray patina with barrel having some vise marks. Wood has been cleaned with some usage dings and marks. Working mechanics with dark pitted bore. DLM
