This beautiful rifle features an octagon to round barrel, wind drift rear sight, Beech's folding front sight, case colored frame, lever, and buttplate; walnut stock, and long range tang sight. Right side of frame is stamped 1882, indicating that it is an improved version of the 1873. CONDITION: The barrel retains approximately 85% original bright factory blue, starting to drift patina in spots, but with a very homogeneous eye appeal. The frame and lever retain 85-90% original case colors, most still bright and vivid. Razor sharp legends. All of the screws retain the majority of their nitre blue finish with perfectly square heads. The varnished walnut stock is excellent, proud to metal, with the exception of the toe which has a 4" crack at the bottom, coming in from both sides of the buttplate. The wood is still present and this could easily be made to disappear with the help of a skilled woodworker. This rifle has seen such little use and is in such high condition that the rifle really needs to be done to bring this rifle to the level it should be. Even the buttplate retains 30-40% case colors, with the heel colors bright and vivid. The barrel is numbered 21029, which is not uncommon as all the Maynard barrels were interchangeable. Bore has strong pronounced rifling. A beautiful gun.
