Market fowler built in Oxford, England by John Collins circa 1795. Massive flintlock marked "Collins Oxford" controlled by a single styled trigger. Octagon to round barrel with British proofs. Massive walnut half stock with raised shell pattern carving behind tang. Brass hardware with shield tang inlay. Original brass tipped hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a silvery patina with some old pitting. Brass has golden color and looks to be uncleaned. Wood has traces of original finish with a large crack near the toe of the gun. Several chips behind the lock and along the forestock are missing which look to be missing from long ago. Gun has good mechanics. Great display piece. DLM
