Serial Number 8834, manufactured in 1854. Matching serial numbers on all major components including loading lever and wedge. 5" barrel marked in two lines "ADDRESS COL COLT / LONDON". Left side of frame marked "COLTS PATENT". 5-shot cylinder with stagecoach holdup scene. One piece varnished walnut stock. Blue with case hardened frame, hammer, and loading lever. Housed in a London style walnut case partition fitted to gun and accessories. Complete with London style powder flask, "Colts Patent" bullet mold, combination nipple wrench. Eley Bros. percussion cap tin, and cleaning rod. CONDITION: Fine overall with 90%+ bright original blue on barrel. Traces of blue on cylinder mostly a brown patina. Most of the roll die cylinder scene is visible. Traces of case color on frame, loading lever and hammer, turning a dove grey patina. Grips excellent with most piano finish remaining showing minimum wear. Case is very overall with scattered scratches and small dents with a split on lid right front. Interior lined in a red baize showing moderate wear and light fading. Nice "Directions For Loading Colt's Pistols" label inside lid. Correct "Colts Patent" has light original blue. London style powder flask marked "James Dixon" shows most original finish with scattered oxidation. Overall a very attractive honest Model 1849 Colt. -MKS-
