(A) Dimick Halfstock Plains percussion rifle marked "H.E. DIMICK/ST. LEWIS" forward of buckhorn rear sight with "J. GRIFFITH/CTNI" after the rear sight. Dimick being the maker and J. Griffith the retailer. Rifle features 36-3/4" full, heavy octagon barrel with a bore measuring .40 caliber. Has under rib and buckhorn rear sight with German Silver front sight. 1-piece select walnut stock with dual barrel keys in German Silver escutcheons. "White metal" type forearm tip, iron trigger guard in the typical Plains rifle fashion, double set triggers, iron rifle-style buttplate. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with metal parts faded to a pleasing brown-grey patina. Stock is excellent with very few handling and usage marks. Action and set triggers function correctly. Bore has crisp rifling. (B) Gemmer Halfstock Plains percussion rifle marked "J.P. GEMMER ST.LOUIS" over corrosion on barrel after rear sight toward breech. Rifle features 39" heavy full octagon barrel with a bore measuring .45 caliber. Has under rib and buckhorn rear sight with German silver front sight. 1-piece plain walnut stock with single barrel key in German silver escutcheon. Pewter forearm tip, brass trigger guard, double set triggers, and brass rifle buttplate. CONDITION: Fair with heavy corrosion overall with the balance turning to a pleasing chocolate patina. Stock is good, with dents and dings from handling and use. Action works correctly without using set trigger. When set trigger is pulled, action is "sticky" with the hammer having to be pushed forward in order to strike the nipple. Bore has visible rifling. -TN-
