The round barrel has 2 indistinct British proofs on the left side of the breech. The large dog lock is retained by 3 lock bolts and is stamped "WARRANTED" in a vertical arc at the tail. Barrel is retained by 3 crude sheet brass bands. There is no furniture on this gun and no trigger guard. This was top assure that the gun could be fired while the shooter was wearing heavy gloves due to cold conditions. Massive wood stock. CONDITION: Barrel cleaned to a grey patina, touch hole rebushed with brass liner. Lock functions well and is in its original flintlock configuration, spotted brown patina with scattered pitting. 2 lock bolts are later replacements. Brass bands retain a dark patina. Stock shows heavy use with scattered chips, cracks, wear and some scattered filled repairs. A very nice example of a seal hunting gun. DMG
