This 1879 Trapdoor rifle is in superb all original condition, having seen little to no use. The block is dated 1873. Lock is not dated. Rifle sight is pinned. Buttplate has no trapdoor. As new "SWP 1883" cartouche and the cursive "P". CONDITION: Rifle retains 98% of the high polish original blue finish on just about every metal part including bands. The buttplate shows wear only at the top heel. Shows a bit of muzzle wear and some thinning on trigger guard. Bright case colors on block and 80% fire blue on screws. Walnut stocks and finish are near mint with just a couple of handling marks. The block is dated 1873. Lock is not dated. Rifle sight is pinned. Butt-plate has no trap-door. Near mint bore. One would be hard pressed to find a nicer Model 1879 rifle. Comes with original period leather sling; single brass frog with two keepers.
