Manufactured 1862. This superb Civil War period 1849 Colt Pocket, serial number 202896, retains nearly 100% of it bright blue vibrant case colored finishes. All numbers match and screws have nearly all the original nitre blue. Pin safeties are intact and face of cylinder would indicate this revolver is unfired, as it appears to have blue in the chambers. Back strap and trigger guard retain nearly all of their patinated silver finish. Original grips retain nearly all of their original Colt factory varnish. Unusual Colt factory contour case has all original slightly faded red lining. Exterior of case retains nearly all of its original varnish. Accessories include flying eagle flask which has most of the original lacquer and gilding and Colt's patent mold which retains nearly all its original bluing. Case has two original skin packs for 49 Pocket, an Eley cap tin, Colt screwdriver and original key. Colt Pockets with this amount of finish are normally found with serial numbers indicating post-civil war production. This is as close to a mint condition Civil War era 1849 Pocket as a Colt collector is likely to find.
