Standard Type II configuration with spring retained bands. Matching 1826 dates on lock and barrel tang. Well marked on the lock "W.L. EVENS/ (Eagle) / V. FORGE". "1826 / US" stamped vertically at rear of lock. "LS US/ P" inspected on barrel. "US" on buttplate tang. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have been lightly cleaned with areas of pitting. Markings are clear, although the eagle on the lockplate was a weak stamping. Stock has been lightly cleaned with weak but visible cartouches on the left side. Has "CPN" carved into the left side of the butt. Brass oval with "5" on it nailed into the right side of the stock. Bore has pitting. Fine mechanical function. GR
