A full octagon barrel sporting a Marble's beaded front sight and an Express rear sight. Full magazine. Forearm cap is blued with a sling eye attached to the bottom, also sling attached to the bottom of the stock. Has blued receiver, proof mark on top of receiver and barrel in front of "44 WCF" caliber. Stock is rosewood with a fancy finish, checkered in "H" style pattern that wraps around the bottom of the stock to the other side. Hammer is case colored. Lever is case colored. Trigger is blued. Buttplate is blue. Comes with assembly No. 416 that is indicated on bottom tang where a "46" is located but X'ed out. No markings on the buttplate. On the back of the stock another No. 3650 with No. 94 positioned below it. The "94" believed to be for the Model '94, so 94's and 92's are interchangeable. The upper channel of the stock is marked with No. 416. Full octagon barrel retains 95% original blue. Magazine tube is 93-96% original blue with a clear coating of some finish located at the end of the magazine. Forearm cap retains 20-30% blue with the balance turning to a medium patina. The left side of the receiver retains 95-96% blue with some minor surface scratches. The right side of the receiver retains 95% blue with some light stains mainly on the back end. Bottom of receiver is 20-30% blue with the balance in a dark patina. Receiver is proof marked as indicated and stands out as not being refinished. Stock has on the left side minor surface scratches and impressions with one ding next to the sling eyelet on the bottom of stock. Right side has minor surface scratches with a few compression marks near the toe of the buttplate. Checkering has very few compression marks, remains sharp but not redone, on both sides. No chips or slivers of wood to indicate abuse. An extremely rare straight gripped deluxe. Screw heads half of them are boogered up. Fine to very fine overall, an extremely rare '92 with rosewood stock. Factory letter states it was originally shipped March 15th, 1897 in full nickel with fancy finish redwood stock, octagon barrel and in .44 caliber. It was received back to the warehouse eight times between May 11th, 1897 and December 7th, 1901; probably for a salesman's sample as factory records indicate all billing is to be to Ex. Show case sample account. Bore is excellent with sharp rifling. Rifle cycles correctly, mechanics are fine. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
