A nearly identical example can be seen in "British Military Pistols and Associated Edged Weapons" by Brooker, pg. 100-101. Regulation configuration barrel with Tower private proofs on top of barrel, and additional "ST 3051" control mark, possibly an 1843 Irish Registration number for Tipperary South Riding. Flat banana lock with central "(Crown) / GR" and faint "KETLAND / & CO" at rear, vertical, decorated with light line engraving. Swan neck cock, pan with fence and bridled pan cover, frizzen spring with filed edges. Double lock bolts with full length brass "S" sideplate. Ramrod with sheet brass head, replaced, retained by a single ferrule and feeding into an unreinforced mouth. Tang with relief apron. Buttcap slightly raised dais. CONDITION: Metal is essentially chocolate patina throughout with even peppering to barrel, while lock is largely smooth. Legends softened from patina. Stock is slightly oose from barrel with minor handling marks throughout, with a small crack to front of lock. 2 slightly long cracks to forestock, one on right side and one down ramrod channel. Mechanically fine, bore very good. EMW
