Heavy octagon rifled barrel with brass rear sight, top flat inscribed "Peter Moll Hellerstown No 88". Flat lockplate with engraved decoration and roller frizzen. Brass furniture includes classic Moll two piece patchbox, brass sideplate terminating in the back in an arrow, brass trigger, and a brass reinforcing plate fastened by ten screws in front of the trigger guard tang. Figured maple stock of Lehigh County form. Replaced wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel and stock have been shortened during period of use. Signature is excellent. Barrel and lock retain a brown patina with some pitting. Top jaw screw replaced. Brass retains an unpolished patina. Stock has several cracks and shows much original finish. A few splinters missing. A nice Lehigh rifle. DMG
