Manufactured during the Civil War circa 1861 to 1865 by William Uhlinger under the J. P. Lower name. One example of several, these revolvers were sold under various names in order to avoid detection for infringing on the Rollin White patent owned by Smith & Wesson. Revolver features a 3" octagon barrel with reapplied nickel finish and "J.P. LOWER" marking, 6-shot short style cylinder, very rare brass frame, and 2-piece smooth rosewood grips. CONDITION: Good. Iron components have some evidence of cleaned oxidation with a silvery appearance. Frame displays a very attractive mellow patina. The grips are especially fine with only a few very light marks. Front sight is missing. Strong, frosted bore. Matching serial numbers observed on frame, barrel, cylinder, and underside of both grips. BAS
