Unique and not previously observed Winchester 1883 Hotchkiss Sporter with tang dated 1883. Type 3 with action levers on both side of receiver. Crescent butt with sporter length forearm equipped with hickory wiping rod. Chamber marked Cal. 45-70. Full octagon barrel with blade front sight and elevator adjustable rear. Rear sling swivel attachment with no swivel at front. Very little is known of the Sporter models and it is unknown if this is a retailer assembled rifle or period custom variation. CONDITION: Good with an even plum patina overall and crisp action. Bore is very fine with sharp rifling.
