The 1862 Pocket Navy is one of the rarer Colt percussion model revolvers. This engraved long barreled specimen is a rarity. Serial No. 2722 is engraved in the late line scroll style with a large eagle head on the left side of the barrel lug. Barrel retains considerable thinning bright blue and the cylinder scene is good with considerable traces of blue in rebated portion. Safeties are mostly intact. Frame retains no original case colors or blue but engraving is very crisp and sharp. Backstrap and trigger guard have most of their original silver. Revolver has all matching numbers. Ivory grips are fine with interesting scrimshaw at bottom reading "Jas. F. Smith Sergt. Maj. Jan. Custer 7th Cav. U.S.A. 1868". Cased in an original factory case with Colt's patent flask retaining much original lacquer and no gilding, paper packet cartridge, original bullet mold is marked "36P" with much original finish, and Eley cap tin. Exterior of case is fine. A very good specimen of this rare model.
