Standard configuration with .42 caliber rifled barrel above a 20 bore shotgun barrel. Checkered wood grips. 9 shot cylinder. Finger rest spur on trigger guard. Hand engraved on top of the barrel "COL. LEMAT'S PATENT", the word "PATENT" is worn and only partially visible. Matching numbers on cylinder, frame, barrel and recoil shield. These gun were known to have been carried by Confederate officers in all branches of service. There are also known guns having been issued to Union officers. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina overall with some wear and areas of extremely minor pitting. Markings are good. The loading lever assembly is a more modern replacement which shows some age. There is a crack in the leaving lever catch which is affixed to the barrel. Old braised repair to the top of the hammer. The barrel selector on the hammer works well. Bore with strong rifling. Wood grips are good with wear to the checkering. Fine mechanical function. This is a solid and presentable example of an early Civil War LeMat revolver. GR
