The lockplate on these guns are only marked with an Eagle. "U.S./ JCS/ P" proofed on the barrel. Heart shaped cutout on the hammer. Iron mounted. No cartouche, although it has some small inspectors initials stamped into the wood. Consignors notes state that there are 20 of these known. PROVENANCE: Jim Wertenberger. CONDITION: All metal surfaces retain light pitting with a pleasing patina. The lock is in better condition with a pleasing patina and no real pitting to speak of. Markings are clear. Wood is good with light dings and handling marks. Bore has light pitting. Good mechanical function. From the Robert Sadler Collection. GR.
