Barrel length is 3", caliber is .31 percussion. Approximately 6,000 Colt Wells Fargo Model pocket revolvers manufactured between 1850-1861. This example is serial No. 5. Has all matching numbers on barrel, wedge, frame, trigger guard and back strap. It has the New York City barrel address. Gun is basically grey patina with no visible cylinder seam, flashes of silver plate on back strap and trigger guard. Stamped Colt Patent on left side of frame, barrel is stamped Samuel Colt New York City. The barrel stamp is very irregular so this is a well made Colt copy or "Brevet" as they are universally termed. The walnut one-piece stocks are very good and fit flush to frame. All parts appear nearly identical to the Colt but the barrel address was hand stamped. Does not appear to be made from one manufactured die.
