Stamped JP Lower on the barrel. The letter A in box can be found stamped on barrel and frame. Approximately 700 of these guns were built at Bridgeport. The barrel does not have Sharps address stamp, only dealer and caliber. The Lawrence sight slot has been filled and there exists a newly cut slot for a single folding leaf rear sight. The front sight is of knife blade style. The rear stock is an old carbine type with filler plate on left side and patch box on right with schnabel fore-end and sling swivel in butt. The Sharps address on left side is faint. This rifle also features double set triggers. CONDITION: The barrel is a smooth blue patina mix. Frame colors have turned dark. Stocks show use with chip missing from forend and numerous dings. Fine bright strong rifling and fine action. A real Western frontier shipped and used Sharps rifle.
