Springfield made Model 1842 percussion musket with three barrel bands, fixed front sight and round musket barrel dated 1854 and marked "VP over Eagle" proof. Percussion lock marked with Eagle over "US" and dated 1855 with "Springfield" above. Walnut full musket stock with "JS" cartouche on left of stock. Comes with original ramrod and reproduction sling. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned and has faded to a silvery patina. Wood has added oil finish with service dings and visible cartouche. Good mechanics.
