US M1816 Type I flintlock musket manufactured by Springfield and dated 1819. 42" barrel in .69 caliber with iron blade integral to double strapped front barrel band and bayonet lug mounted on top of barrel. Barrel is marked with VP Eagle proof mark on left side above woodline with "C / O 18" (serial number) on breech. Barrel tang is dated 1819. 1-piece walnut stock and forearm with 3 barrel bands and US marked military buttplate. Left of stock bears 2 faint cartouches. CONDITION: Very good with light patina formed over National Armory Bright polish and markings crisp on iron assemblies. Stock is very good as expertly repaired at rear barrel band, both sides of barrel tang, and small crack near lock retaining plate through wrist. Small wood break near frizzen. Appears to be in original flint. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark.
