The second type model 1817, with only 600 manufactured, is a very desirable US martial pistol. This example, with lock is dated 1815, and barrel marked 1818, was made to use up existing armory inventory. CONDITION: Pistol is in remarkable untouched condition throughout, with extremely crisp lock markings, beautiful stock with excellent inspector's cartouches, and some raised grain remaining on wood. Hammer is missing, and nickel is brushed, but this pistol has a fantastic unmolested appearance, and would appeal to any collector of US martial pistols that have not been converted to flint. Bore is fair, wood is great, with only some minor marks.
