Springfield manufactured Model 1871 rolling block rifle made under Remington's patent for the U.S. Army in 1872. 36" round barrel in .50-70 Government with blade front and military ladder rear sight. 2-piece plain walnut replacement stock and forearm. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel and barrel bands National Armory Bright with consistent light age related freckling throughout. Action is a dull gray patina. Stock is very good as a replacement, with replacement buttplate, but no major signs of distress and plugged area where a sling swivel was added. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with sharp rifling.
