This is the renowned factory engraved, factory double carved ivory grip, factory lettered Colt 1849 Pocket shipped to B. Kittredge and Co. April 29th, 1861. This famous '49 Pocket is pictured on page 75 of the "Texas Arms Annual", from the collection of the great Colt collector Dr. Chester P. Bonoff. The barrel retains most of its original bright bluing with extra deluxe engraving extending more than 1" from the muzzle, and script "SamL Colt" barrel address. Cylinder retains some original bluing but is flaked, with perfect scene. Nipples retain nearly all their original color. Frame retains much original case colors, somewhat faded. Hammer case colors are brighter. Special checkered thumb piece with five dots indicating five days to engrave. Loading lever has bright case colors and is checkered, an extremely deluxe feature found on only the finest percussion Colts. Iron backstrap retains considerable original silver. Very rare large iron trigger guard retains much original darkened silver. Screws retains most of original bluing, as does trigger on the sides. Bore is fine and action is very tight. Front of cylinder has been faced to facilitate action. Magnificent and very rare factory double raised carved ivory grips, having the American Eagle in extremely high relief with "E Pluribus Unum" engraved above right side of grip. Features splendid Goddess of Liberty on the left side. Grips have lovely color and virtually no cracking. Superbly detailed throughout. One of the finest pairs of ivory grips we have seen on a percussion Colt. Deluxe rosewood case in the French style with green felt lining, trimmed in purple, with Colt's patent flask which retains much original lacquer. Spout has some gilding which has drifted. Fine brass Colt's patent bullet mold and high polish screwdriver. One packet of combustible cartridges and Eley cap tin complete the ensemble. One of the most attractive and storied 1849 Colt Pocket revolvers known. CORRECTION:Photo added. Barrel length is 6".
