The barrel is stamped PV with eagle head. CONDITION: Moderate pitting throughout its length. The lock has minor pitting and no maker, and is stamped with eagle and double stamped US. The stock shows no visible inspectors' marks. Small chunk missing from forend just behind stirrup rammer. Otherwise, stock has old coat of varnish. Action with very strong mainspring. Bore is good. A most unusual US martial flintlock pistol with characteristic of both 1819 and 1826 models, though the bore diameter is much larger than either standard issue flintlock pistol. Worthy of further research and should appeal to any US martial pistol collector. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
