US Model 1816 martial pistol converted to percussion by A.T. Baxter of Baltimore, Maryland who was known for his high-grade conversions from flintlock to percussion mechanisms. 9" round barrel in .54 caliber with brass blade front sight on double strapped barrel band with no provision for rear sight. 1 piece plain walnut stock with iron mountings. Period gunsmith manufactured replacement percussion lock made by Baxter with scroll engraving on on hammer, screws, and borders of lock. Lock reads "A.T. Baxter / Baltimore" acid etched in script. CONDITION: Very good, with iron surfaces turned a freckled gray-brown patina. Stock is good as lightly sanded and finish added with cracks at front of lock, left side of stock opposite lock, and repaired crack near grip. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark.
