Full octagon barrel, takedown with full magazine. Case color forearm cap, receiver, hammer, lever, trigger and buttplate. Looks to be at least one X wood with stock with also one X wood on forearm. Back of stock marked with Assembly No. 1863 as is the toe of the buttplate. Case colored Model 1894 Winchester rifles in any configuration are very rare indeed, now consider a special order takedown with fancy stocks and fully documented by the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. The letter states that the rifle was .32-40, octagon barrel, plain trigger, fancy stock, takedown, casehardened and received in the warehouse and shipped the same day of August 29th, 1895. Octagon barrel retains a good 98% dark blue. Magazine tube is 85-90% with a few scratches on the end on each side of takedown lever. Forend cap retains 50-60% case color with the takedown collar at 90-95% bright blue. Receiver on left side retains 95-97% case color, mostly bright and vivid. Top of receiver is 70-80%, color softer but not vivid. Right side is 80% vivid colors with balance mellowed out somewhat. Top tang is a 75-80% color with balance in a light patina in color. Bottom tang would rate a 80-85% case color with balance turning on silvery. 70% case colored flats on left and right side of lever, with bottom of lever turning a light patina in color, but only on high spots. Screw heads look to be un-turned and unmolested. The lever link retains 98-99% its original blue. This 94 comes with a factory white sheet that indicates the receiver is factory case colored. Wood on left side with few light impressions, light surface scratches, but with no chips of wood or splits in the stock. Right side is also of light impressions and few light surface scratches. Forearm is also a deluxe wood and is has light scratches, some impressions with no chips or slivers of wood missing. The stock would rate a solid 95-97% finish on both sides overall with the forearm 90-95% finish remaining. Buttplate and stock match with assembly numbers and it retains a solid 95-97% case colors. Bore is frosty from the middle to the chamber end, bright and shiny otherwise. Cycles fine. Mechanics are fine. A rare opportunity to own one of the rarest of all Winchester rifles every to be offered. From the Ray Bentley Collection
