It is estimated less than 800 of these rifle were built between 1866-1870. Of these most were manufactured with gun metal bronze receivers, however this one being a scarce example of the iron framed group that is rarely encountered. Half octagon to round blued steel barrel. Nickel plated iron frame, lever, and buttplate. Straight grip walnut stock with rifle style crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent plus overall. Thinning blue on barrel, turned a blue/brown patina. Most all the original nickel is remaining with a lovely mellow patina. Stock possibly has finish added, however, is very nice showing little wear. Strong bore with tight action. A rare little gun. -MKS-
