Kentucky style percussion pistol built in Western Pennsylvania by Schairer of Greensburg, Pennsylvania circa 1850. 5 - 3/8" octagon .56 caliber smoothbore barrel with bead front sight and patent breech ignition. Back action percussion lock marked "SCHAIRER, Ior J" and "L." with single trigger control. Curly maple stock with pronounced butt and brass hardware with steel ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with metal turning a silvery patina with wood having traces of original finish and brass having a golden patina finish with one screw missing from right escutcheon plate. Pitted bore with good mechanics. DLM
