Manufactured 1892. Winchester Repeating Arms, New Haven, Connecticut, this Model 1873 deluxe rifle has blued half round half octagon rifled barrel with blade front sight, Buckhorn style rear adjustable sight and 1/2 magazine. Casehardened frame with serrated dust cover and plain trigger. Walnut highly figured checkered pistol grip stock, ebony grip inlay and checkered forearm. Crescent buttplate with sliding door for cleaning rod (missing rod). Comes with Cody letter verifying all options. CONDITION: Good as found. Rifle is an even brown patina with light pitting overall from use. The wood stocks have remnants of the original varnish with the checkering being worn but intact. The action operates properly. The dust cover has been peened to remain tight during operation at an earlier period. This rifle is untouched and in attic condition. A rather unique rifle remaining functional and original ,just used and exposed to the elements from its long life. If it could only speak it would have a long trail of yarns. tdw.
